Looking over my '02 viper that i recently purchased and noticed that the rear center guide wheel is notched. It looks like the previous owner used a drill of some sort and notched the entire wheel approx every 1/4". It's more of an inside notch, if that makes any sense. However, it's still perfectly round with the perimeter still being smooth, so I can't figure out why someone would do this. What would be the advantage, if any?

It is all stock with 96 studs and only 500 miles. Any thoughts?

I am thinking for possibly kicking up some snow on the Hyfax? I don't know. Have never heard or seen that before.

I know... I thought it was strange myself. I'm not sure if I should replace or just leave it.

I would replace it. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!!! Don't want to be stranded ove a bogie wheel!!

those are from a stud drill

The drilling makes total sense... There's no way that a wheel would naturally wear like that. I will go ahead and replace it. ;)!
