Theres a SnoScoot for sale locally that Im thinking about buying if the price is right. Its most all there. The seat needs to be recovered (its all ducttape right now), it doesnt have any of the factory stickers and it has a little rust on it, but nothing major.
Im thinking that it might be a good beater sled for just puttzing around on the lake here in southern Wisconsin.
What do you guys think about that? I sat on it, and its a little small but it seemed OK (certainly no smaller than any moped or Blaster).
From what Ive read about the SnoScoot it wasnt really designed as a kiddie sled. Supposedly, it was designed for non-snowmobilers (skiers, ect).
Lemmie know what you all think...
 
The SnoScoot is quite small, the SnoSport is maybe what you have heard about. However it is still a neat little package.
 
Really? Thats possible. I sat on that SnoScoot I was looking at and I fit on it OK (Im 5'11"). It basically felt like a scooter.
From what I have read, the SnoScoot and SnoSport were very similar except that the SnoScoot got the 80cc engine whereas the SnoSport got a 125cc engine.
I could be wrong though, its been known to happen from time to time...LOL
 
The sno sport is alot bigger than the scoot. I have a sport and the guy up the street has a scoot,the sport is about 10 inches longer and 6 inches wider lots more power also. They are a blast though either one. Most fun sled I have ever had.
 
Sno-scoots are lots of fun. We borrowed one from a friend last year and it was great for just crusin around the house. I'm 6'1" and around 235lbs and it crused me around just fine. There was about a foot of fresh snow and that little thing was a blast to carve. The guy who owned it had bolted on small, hard, rubber paddles on the track for a little extra traction. I think Ski-Doo stole their rider forward design from the sno-scoot! lol
 
Ive wanted a SnoScoot for a few years now, but I havent really been serious about it untill recently.
A guy up the road from me has one for sale. Its a little rough (duct tape all over the seat, no OEM stickers, a little rust) and Im hoping he will let it go for $500 or less. (Im hoping he doesnt realize what he has and how much he could get for it)
If not, I will just save up my money and buy one off of Ebay.
I figure what the heck, I'll ride it around down in southern Wisconsin. Ive got a lake about 50' away from my house and I'll putt-putt on the lake all winter long with it. It certainly wont be fast with that lil 80cc motor, but its good enough for a beater sled.
Heck, I might even take it up to Minocqua and putt-putt around up there with it! LOL
 
Well, I called the guy yesterday and Im not buying that particular SnoScoot.
He wants $1100 for it and considering that the body needs some work (no stickers on hood, some rust) and the seat needs to be recovered (its all duct tape right now), Im gonna pass on it. I would have paid as much as $500 for it, but at the price the guy wanted, I didnt feel that it was worth that amount.
I can buy a SnoScoot off of Ebay thats in near perfect condition for the same amount of money.
Oh well, I'll keep an eye out for other SnoScoots. Theres usually a few of them for sale on Ebay every winter.
 
They are generally thought of as being for kids but Yamaha marketed them for full size people. You would probably be happier with a Sno-sport but they get more money for those. I had a Sno-sport for a while. They are a good "field sled" but a little too slow for the trails. I wanted to put the engine from my 175 TriMoto in it but never did. It would really be neat to put an RD 350 motor or something similar in one.
