Viper MPG?

here is an example of fuel useage in my group. all riding in the same pack. mixed twisties and high speed. if anyone was hardest on the throttle it was me.

now my friends, but was my old 1997 polaris ultra 680 jetted, clutched, geared down and airbox mods. 4.7 gallons
2000 zr 600 efi stock as they come. 5.2 gallons.
2001 mxz 600 stock as they come. 4.4 gallons.
my 2002 viper geared 2.5 teeth down and ripsaw otherwise stock. 3.8 gallons.
 
I never really calculated my mpg.I ride with a new mach z,98 mach z,rev 800,f6,03 zr 440,zr800 and i always get better mpg than any of them.Im usually at least a quarter tank more than they are when we fill up.Stock 04 viper s,aggressive trail.
 
10 maybe 11 if I dog it. A little less if I beat on it like a rental. Keep in mind this will seem low since I'm not stock. :wink:
 
I get around 14 mpg, I ride mostly on twisty trails, about 30-50mph. When I ride on the bigger logging roads in Northern NH I tend to get just slightly better milage, about 15 mpg.
 
Aggressive rider with mix of trails and lakes:

Low 12mpg
High 15 mpg

Adding pipes this year so I'll be happy with 10
 
I get around the 13-15 mpg range. aggresive trail. the 600 non powervalved engines in the family seem lucky to get about 12. more average of about 10-11.
 
Thats not bad. Im getting 16 mpg with the '01 Polaris 600 XC that I have now. I used to have a '99 Polaris 700 XC SP and it was only good for about 10 mpg (and it was jetted down a little bit from stock). My brother's '03 Poo Pro-X 700 only gets about 12 mpg.
Its nice to hear that a Viper will beat the milage of my brother's 700 and come close to matching that of the Poo 600s my parents ride. The less reason my family had to trashtalk a Yamaha, the better! ;)! :yam:

14 mpg - I pretty much just cruise trails - 75-80 on straights - a lot slower thru the twistys.
 
Well, mine is only a 121" and Im not on the gas hard all the time (we usually ride at speeds ranging from 30-50 mph with the occasional wide-open lake blast).
I think that the Poo 600s are pretty good on fuel. My father has an '03 Pro-X 600 and my mother has an '02 600 XC EDGE X and they both get about 16 mpg. Its not as if my parents ride slow either. That Poo EDGE chassis rides and handles so nice that you will be just cruising along and look down at the speedo and not even realize you are doing 50 mph.
Im hoping that a Viper will be just a little bit better than their Poos though. My family and I have a little Polaris/Yamaha rivalry going on. Im confident that it will be.

i can almost gurantee if you get 16 on your 600 the viper should get 18. :rockon:
 
I hope so. I used to love it when I had the Phazer and Id get 2-4 mpg better than everyone else. I had a '90 Phazer II and I used to pull 16-18 mpg with it.
When I first got that sled my father told me how poor the fuel economy would be and how the suspension would pound my back into submission. Neither came to be.
