? for Viper S owners

I may be able to work out a deal on a new Viper S.The question, especially if someone has moved over to a 4 stroke from a Viper is....what to do.
I'm thinking that I should be able to get the Viper for my sled (trade in) and maybe $2000.00 or I could buy A Vector GT for more like my sled and $4500.00.
They are both 120HP class machines, have premium shocks and ripsaw tracks. So it comes down to 2 vs. 4 stroke, and more suspension travel on the Vector (but no storage space to speak of)

All I can tell you is the only weak point of my Viper is the 120hp stock (weak for a 700). There is a VERY long list of good stuff (depenability, fuel economy, suspension, looks, handling) its all good.

I think the weak part, 120 HP for a 700 translates into a reliable motor that is not running on the ragged edge.

This sled is steady and dependable. Has a great ride in my opinion and handles great on the tight twistys w/bumps. I get better gas mileage than my hubbies warrior.
 
great gas mileage, reliable, great handling, reliable, sleek looking sled, reliable, smooth runing...oh and did I mention reliable.
 
I would have to say the Vector over the Viper - I road a Vector last spring in Brainerd, and I am having a hard time not trading my Viper for it.
 
The Vector is a sweet sled.
The Viper should be a little bit faster than the Vector, but the Vector should have a better ride, better fuel economy and will be more dependable in the long run. (although more expensive to rebuild when the time comes)
Thats a tough call but you really cant make the wrong decision in this case.
The Viper would cost you $2500 less, but in my opinion the Vector has the better engine/chassis combination.
I guess it all comes down to a matter of what you prefer: 2-stroke snap or 4-stroke grunt.

Ive seen quite a few yamaha two stroke triples with a ton of miles on them too,and they were still running strong.
 
I wont fight you on that one. There was a guy who used to post on HCS who had an SXr with 17,000 miles on it and the motor had never been touched.
Considering that a 4-stroke goes twice as long between rebuilds as a 2-stroke, youve gotta figure that the Vectors could go 30,000-40,000 miles between rebuilds.
 
I personally witnessed a Phazer (year unkown) that had 28,000 miles on it - the owner said he only put hifax and belts into it. The next day same story, this time a Phazer with 16,000 miles - also no rebuild.
 
I know of a 02 vmax 700 that had 22,500 miles on it before he tore it down just for preventative maintenance. All new crank bearings and top end. Didn't have anything wrong, just wanted to make sure he could put that many more on it before having to worry about it again. Yea thats right, it was on a 2002! This guy rides a little more than us. ;)!
 
There is a few sleds around here (2001 sxr,98 srx, 98 srx) With 15000 17000 and 20000kms.) respectivly and these things are totally stock and always maintained... The Yamaha 2 stoke triple enignes are BULLET PROOF!!!! i cant wait to see the 4 strokes and how many miles you could put on untill it would need a rebuild. 30000-40000kms should be passed easily.
