Help! 1.25" track rub on Viper ER

I purchased an Ice Ripper 1.25" track from CBPerformance for my 04 Viper ER. I was told that the track would set right in with no modifications.

I pulled my stock 1" track, installed the Ice Ripper (1.25" ripsaw) track and reinstalled the axel. Now, looking underneath, I see some pretty substantial rubbing up front on the heat exchanger protectors as well as the tunnel protectors. I'm really confused, since I was under the impression this would not be a problem. :o|

Could this straighten itself out once I get the suspension in and tighten things up, or, :babe: should I make some modifications to avoid future headaches. I really do not want to put the suspension back in only to have to take it back out. :itchy:
 
Sometimes on even 1 inch tracks you will have to notch the lugs by the windows/clips to keep them from rubbing on your exchangers/protectors. It all depends on the track, some don't have lugs in that area and will work with no modification, some need to be cut down in that area. Its not that big of a deal, it'll still work, you just gotta do a little more. Anyone else got any info?

If your not going to stud your track you can remove the heat exchanger protecters or the other option is to cut the track like ejcamaro said.
 
i had to take my protectors out when i went to a 1.25 but it wasnt a ripper, just a ripsaw.... i dont know about taking them out when you have those track studs..... that is a toughy.....
 
yeah, 8 inch drivers would be a good solution, if you already have it apart it should be easy. Someone said horse nail clippers work good to clip the rubber (not a farmer, not sure if that is the right lingo) if you want to keep the drivers you got.
 
I took off all my protectors,but i don't ride with studs,not too sure what would happen with those little studs though,you might want to change too 8 tooth drivers.
 
Man, this just bugs me that I baught this thing with the understanding that it would go right in with no problems. Now I have to start changing things or cutting stuff. Or, I run it with all that friction.
 
It will rub itself in in no time flat. Put it back together, and run it. I did it with a 99 with a 1.187 track, and it took less than 150 miles for it to clearence itself. Maxdlx
 
i just had a ripsaw put in my viper w/no studs. my protectors are still in it. i should be fine rite? it will just "break in" rite?
 
I just put two 1 1/4 tracks in - a Ice Ripper in a 00 SXR 700 and a Ripsaw in a 98 XTC.

I copied my Viper S - removed all the tunnel and exchanger protection. I think with the Ripper you just need to keep an eye on you track tension.

You don't have to cut anything, just chisel the rivets out on the exchanger protector.
