Secondary clutch, spring hole question.

OK...is there a "universal sequence" on what the A, B, C & 1, 2, 3, 4 holes on the secondary relate to as far as tightness goes? Does it go like this, starting weakest? A1, A2, A3, A4, B1, B2, etc., etc., etc. Or does it go like this, A1, B1, C1, A2, B2, yadda, yadda, yadda. In paticular, 90-91 Phazers. Yes...I have the manual but it doesn't say.

check this... depending on what helix angle there is no set theory but if you want to improve upshift, depending on what color spring you have, green/yellow might be b4,blue/yellow c1, if you want to improve backshift, try a2, then c2, then c3. hope this helps

Spring holes

Yes there is a pattern. Just like the new ones. They change the amount of preload by 10 degrees with each change. The tighter you go the better the backshift the slower the upshift. It would have been simple if yamaha had just went a-b-c. However in there infinite wisdom they went c-a-b. therefore a setting of c-3 would be weaker than a-1. a-1 weaker than a-2. a-3 weaker than b-1. If you can find an old service manual this is shown in there.

Sooo......from weakest to tightest would be, C1, C2, C3, C4, A1, A2, A3, A4, B1, B2, B3, & B4? Who designed Yamahas engineering dept.? General Motors? LOL..... THANKS!!!!!!

It seems like when I had my Phazers that C2 with a yellow green spring was about 70 degrees. It was really screwed up and you almost need the chart. Good luck
