Picked up another 83 vmax this weekend. It has been stored under a tarp for the last 8 years. What steps should I take to get it up and running again. Any other things that I should check before running it?

Put some fresh gas and oil in it and I bet it starts right up!!!

and if that doesnt work get sum starter fluid that shud work it alwayz works for me

Make sure you check all the idler wheel bearings too. If there was any mositure in them, they might be locked-up. As long as they spin freely, Id think they are OK.
Id also pull out the suspension and grease the crossshafts.

Yes dont use started fluid in your 2 stroke....please.....

Clean the carb and pull the exhaust to check for mice nests. Then put in the fresh fuel and pull it.

maybe a little marvel mystery oil in the cylinders to help loosen things up a little.

Really? Don't use starter fluid? lol wish i had of known that earlier! Why not? i thought you could just throw some in the carbs and go lol at least i know now
change the gas and pull her over. id cheat a little though and put a little in the cylinders. should fire on the 1st pull. bros ss440 did with 4 year old gas. pulled a catwalk with that same gas and almost hit my truck!
