A buddy of mine has a 98 SRX that misfires. He runs if for about 5 min. and the temp light comes on and it's starts to misfire. could this be the manifold sensor gone bad? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

buy a factory manual it has a good diagnosis section for codes and elecrical problems

Like previously mention, the factory manual is great for these problems
I think the 98 system is different, but
my 01 was doing the same thing 2 years ago. It was flashing a coolant temp code.
It ended up being a broken wire in the coolant temp sensor plug.
