Want to get our cabin or cottage booked early. We're planning on goin up the middle of Jan. and I can't find any cabins for rent up there. Need room for about 10 people, and would like it close to the trails and reasonable distance to the casino. If anyone knows of a place, or a link to search for that area I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

twice an hour the ferry runs year round. island usually has more snow and better trails than the main land in my opinion. they do need alot more snow due to the granite on the island. no wonder they call the island and the resort, "the rock". dont try to go early or late in the season. late jan early feb is a good bet for the island. the island itself has over 100 miles of groomed trails and your only a ferry ride away from being on the eastern u.p system. check with the local realator, they usually have listings for those people that rent their homes on the island by the night, weekend, and longer. if you search drummond island on the net i am sure you can get the ferry schedule but dont be late for the ferry... if your late, or it is full you gotta wait another hour for it. think it runs on the tens of the hour to the island and on the forty's back to the mainland or vise versa cant remember off top o head. the island is one of the places that made our family fall in love with sledding. make sure to go see marblehead (the locals can point it out for you). and have an eye for the deer, they are like rats and you will run into them if you arent paying attention. ski

This is for Sault Canada.....are you planning on Canada or the US?
Water Tower Inn is very popular, 705-949-8111, pool, outdoor hot tub, good restaurant, Shell station next door, Tim Hortons, Wendys, McDonalds right across the street, groomed trail to the door, large parking lot.
If you want a large cabin there are some available up in Searchmont, not sure on the cost or how many they sleep, if you are interested let me know and I will see what I can find out.
