Hello all, just became a new member. I have a 04 Viper and my son has a 04 Venom. I adjusted the track on the venom with no problems I tried to tighen the rear axle nut to the service manual specs of 54 ft lbs. When I get to about 40 lbs it does not feel like the nut wants to get any tighter and it sinks in deeper like it is crushing the wheel bearing. I checked a new sled at the dealer and there is little thread showing on the axle comapared to mine. I had the same problems last year and I did not tighen the nut to spec.
I have some experiance with tools and I have a pretty good idea when something does not feel right. The threads on the nut and the axle are in good condition. Does anyone have any insight on this. Thanks

Thanks for reply Blueblooded, I guess I'll just torque it down and see what happens. How do you like the ripsaw track on the "S". A friend of mine has a 04 Viper ER with a dealer installed ripsaw and the track bottoms out. I considered getting the ripsaw but the noise is annoying. Do you have any problems with yours?

Ripsaw is a great track. May rub on the protectors a little bit at first but it will wear in, and it is a VERY quiet track once it is broken in.

I ran my ripsaw without studs and i tore a lot off lugs off from the track spin.I would get the 8" drivers and stud it if i were you.

Thanks for info. My local Yami dealer told me that NY state is trying to ban studs and may happen by next year, so I'll wait and see what happens. Apparently the farmers complained that the studs fall off and get cought in their equipment. A lot of our trail system runs through farm country. Last year Encon hammered on the guys with aftermarket cans. I'm embarassed to say that I torqued the axle nut again and realized that the whole axle was turning. Last time I tried I just got off of night shift and did not have enough sleep. Everything is ok now. Well rested and waiting for snow.
