I am putting a new studded 1" Hacksaw track in my 1997 Vmax 500. When I purchased it, the saleman told me that I wouldn't have any problems with it fitting my sled, but while installing it today I found that it is going to rub on my front heat exchanger protectors.
It clears the tunnel protectors. So my question is what are my options? I just put a new set of 9 tooth drivers on,
do I have to go to 8, or is there another solution? Dosn't look like it will rub by much, does someone sell slightly thinner heat exchanger protectors? What about notching the track, I was suggested this, but have never heard of it being done. I would rather not change the drivers, not just because I just got new ones, but I don't want to deal with a gear ratio change also.

dont worry about it man, just let it rub on the protectors, it will wear in very soon. I just put the exact same track in my '01 SRX and it rubs a little bit as well, but it is no problem to let them rub and wear in with as little as they rub. Run her!!!

Thanks for the help again, I just may have to try it once I get the rear suspension back together.

I clipped mine with wire cutters. Doesn't take that long. Or you could let it wear in as Yamaholic said. It had already started to wear from running it on the track stand
