What are the pros and cons of adding a reverse kit to a Viper? Besides some extra weight, are there gearing limitations?

bottom gears are $100 top gears are the same as non reverse gears. now that i have had reverse, i really wouldnt want to do without. top speed is 2 mph slower. not really much of a consequence if you ask me!

I am currently using a 22/40 gear combination. Can I still use this gear ratio with a reverse kit? I want to have several choices available since I just finished putting in a 136" conversion. I am not sure if I will need to gear down more because of the extra track. Any thoughts?

My next sled is going to have reverse...no doubt.
I don't think you can get the bottom in a 40, but yes you can get close to the same ratio by switching top gears, to match. Maxdlx

if you want to really gear down for the 136" you can just run 8 tooth drivers with stock gearing.1 Trick Viper said:

Anybody know the stock gear ratio for a Viper ER? I think that would be a good starting point and then I can compare that to the 22/40 with the 121" track that I did have.
n20iroc - I have been following your modifications and I did something similar but I used a MaxxPerf 136" kit with the longer rails and a 1" track. That MaxxPerf kit is a pretty nice kit.
