Cut open the silencer and look for cremated mice; you should at least get something out of this other than heartbreak. Sorry for your loss.
yeah you cant leave things like this uncovered.a friend bought a sled and the engine sat on a bench a little to long,he put the engine in the chassis,not knowing a thing,til he went to pull it over and it felt like it was seized,but low and behold he removed the cylinder heads and the one cyclinder that was on the down stroke was totally full of birdseed.rodents will hord food and nest just about anywhere.sorry about your loss
