Helix 101

I contacted Hauck and asked for a reccomendation as to which Helix I should use with their Magnum power shift roller. They suggested I use a 49-41. I have been using a 47-41 Dalton . What is the additional 2 deg. going to change? Please bear with me on this, I'm still trying to figure out this clutching stuff. Thanks

With the 49, the belt will be pulled into the secondary clutch quicker, which in turn will lower the RPM at the start of the shift, more aggressive.
The 47 will pull a little more RPM on the first initial up-shift, less aggressive. But since both finish at the same 41 the final shift out RPM will be the same. To tell you the truth, you might not even notice a big difference between the two. Maybe only on a really hard packed trail.

I run a 45-37 with heel clickers and I prefer it, as to the 47-37 I tried.

02' 700MM, -1 layer from HG, reed spacers, bored silencer, stock primary w/4.5 in - 4.5 out., I have been using a 47-41 dalton w/silver spring @70. RPM's engage at 4600 and jumps right up to 8600 and holds all the way through. This setup has excellant backshift and real snappy through the trails, and my speedo says 90 at top, but it does quit pulling hard around 80 and slowly builds to 90. Like I said the rpm's are right on. My problem is I got beat on the top by a 2000 700 powder special and a 2000 700MM across the lake but I'm smoking them through the trails. Just wondering if I could do better. Thanks, Soc
