No fuel in lines

2001 SRX 700 with about 5,500 miles on it. I am in process of getting the sled up and running after a top end refresh(rings, seals, and gaskets) and carb cleaning. I also changed the fuel filter inside the gas tank. Problem I am having is I am not getting any gas to the carbs, all the clear lines around the carbs are dry and have no fuel in them. The sled will run momentarily if I pour a little fuel right into the jugs. Is there a way to bleed or purge the fuel system to get the fuel flowing? What is the possibiliy of the fuel pump being bad? Should I just go out and put a fuel primer on? If so, where would I put it, between tank and fuel pump or fuel pump and carbs? Think it may be a matter of just keep trying to start it and eventuallly the fuel will make it down to the carbs? Thanks for any help.

And before someone asks.......yes, there is plenty of FRESH fuel in the tank........lol

You should not need a primer.
After I clean my carbs, it stated after about 20 pulls (no priming needed)
Did you check the fuel pump pulse hose for cracks or not conected?
Did you pull the line off the tank to see if the fuel line is flowing or unrestricted.

After that, I would go to the pump, and take it apart and check for a problem there
 
mine was a major biotch to start today, all the lines and the tank were bonr dry. h starting fluid it took at least 100 pulls. keep giong and it will start eventually. it also doesnt help that the oil pump is probably filling the carb bowls!
 
I just started up my girlfriend's 98 vmax 500 a week ago....About a 100 pulls later, away she went.....An old school trick I used to use is blowing in the gas tank, to pressurize the lines and force the fuel through the system....Not a very nice thing to have to do, so if you have an air compressor, try using that instead (seal the top of the tank with a rag and your hand, an giver a good shot of compressed air)...If that doesn't work, keep pulling! Good luck.
 
better way, is find the tank vent line, and blow in it with a blow gun. Just don't over do it. That is how I get my 440 exciter to go. Maxdlx
 
Thanks for the responses. Got her started today. Ended up being a disconnect line (vacuum maybe?) that runs from the fuel pump to the lower half of the engine, not one of the lines to the carbs. Must have knocked it loose reinstalling the carbs. Sounds good though, nice and strong. Purrin' like a lil kitten again :WayCool:
 
That is the pulse line, it is what makes the diaphram work to make fuel flow. Maxdlx
