Is the top speed of stock viper slow?

bottom line

Most F-7's will make minced meat out of a stock viper, sorry guys been-there-done-that. some are very fast, others are not so very fast, but still potent. When clutched right, a piped viper will be even to about 50mph then it will be a massive sloughter of the feline genus. :die:

I agree...The f-7 is a bullett. The f-6 would probably beat if not come close to the Viper. But, the reliability of a Yammie is undeniable!!!

i have seen a f6 beat a 2000 sxr 700 and a 2002 viper 700

it has more power than the sxr and about the same as the viper, setup is everything once again

So,right now im totally stock and reving 8900 rpm.I just bought some 4.5 gram rivets and was going to put them in the inner hole on my stock weights, hoping to pull my rpm's down to 8600.Will the added weight kill my top end some or will it get me more in the powerband and help me?

i know F6 can beat a SXR 700 been there havent heard the end of it from my buddy till i got the pipes i think hes scared now hes talkin about a pipe or engin work on his lol.

I must have a slow one because I have a hard time beating an SKS 700 Poo. But I do weigh 260lbs so I'm not gonna beat anybody anyways. The best I have seen on the dreamometer is about 113. But I do really like the sled. Finally got the suspension right and the thing rides like like a champ. I didn't think that suspension could ride right but with the proper valving it rides awesome. No need for an M-10 or Xpert.

it will accelerate faster all the way to top speed. you top speed might be a little slower though because of the lower rpm's.

Crap! Mine is doing the same thing and I was hoping by getting the rpms into the timing spike it would pick up speed! I need to keep up with the 800 ski doos I ride with!

i said might. my clutches shift all the way out because of my gearing. it is possible you wont lose top speed. i would get the rpm's to where they should be, cut the helix for overdrive and possibly drop a tooth on top. that should give you better acceleration and same if not better top speed (in theory!). maybe someone else will chime in that has tried what i said. i really think dropping a tooth along with the helix will get you a couple more mph. ;)!

Well this is my 5th season on the Viper. Was stock, then piped, now stock again. The first year I ran the .92 track. I saw top speeds on a long lake run of 125 on the speedo. Since the second season I have had a 1.25 predator on it. Best top end stock on speedo was around 114-115 mph with deeper track. Piped I saw over 120 with the deep track. Now I have driven a few dialed in F7's. They are impressive to 90-95, then they tail off, like most twins. Last season I finally ran a 2003 sno pro with a young kid running it much lighter than me. I actually pulled him all the way in a 1/4 mile. I assume his needs tuning. I know many Vipers have varying compression ratios. Fortunately I have a good one.
