Are their any thoughts out their on how well the electric monoshock skid
would handle a 136 longtrack kit in the APEX GT? Maybe the 128 would be
better. More preload on the spring for sure, possiable valving. Any imput
other than ( why didn't you get an attack? ) is appreciated. thanx

I just stretched an Attak from 136" to 151" (would be the same as going from 121 to 136) and it worked great. I used a kit from Hartman Inc. I did increase the shock preload and adjusted the transfer rod, but otherwise it rides great.

Allen, Is the Attack a mono skid? That's my concern. I thought the Attack is a multi shock skid.

The Attak is a mono skid. It has the same mounting positions as the 121" sled, just longer rails and stiffer spring I believe.

Yamaha engineers said the geometry is different for the 136 monoshock compared to the 121. I have never actually measure to see the differences myself, but they stated that longtracking the 121 monoshock would not work well because of the changed geometry from having more leverage with the longer rails.

Suspensions sitting side by side look identicle as are the mounting locations in the tunnel!

alright it should work fine then. Like i said i never measured them myself, just going by what they said at an "ask the engineers" thing.

if you are not getting enough dampaning turn it up, thats the whole point!
you may want a new spring, but I doubt it.
its not like your going from a chevette to a suburban. its more like going from a standard cab to an extended cab.

if you are doing it for comfort dont bother. if you are doing it to boondock, get an attak and buy the EC Ohlins for it. easier/cheaper

03viperguy.....Not doing this to gain comfort, though I don't want to sacrifice
too much...not for boondocking either..the end result will probably be a 128 ripsaw shaved to 1 inch and studded with other driveline mods. I have been doing custom applications on most every sled I have ever owned with very
satisfying results. The 128 version is probably the better choice as to not tax
the stock geometry. This is one of my hobbies and I enjoy making my sleds
unique. When this project is finished I will post pic's. It should be an awesome
GT when I'm finished, probably not till Jan. Thanks for all the imput, this site
has got nothing but better...Hats off to Mr. Sled

so thinking 128 rather than 136? should be neat. not meaning to critisize earlier, just wondering
pics of the sled to start?

why don't you go with the hacksaw 1" instead of shaving down a ripsaw?

or even more so, why no ripsaw??
