What do you guys think about me putting AAEN exhaust on my 2000 v-max 700.

is it worth it???? or should i just save my money

It's worth it. I had those pipes on my 97 sx 700 and they really ripped once i got them dialed in. Great sound to them, different than all other pipes. Very light pipes as well, and clean under the hood.

this is what they look like installed.
I just installed them this year. Very easy install.

147.5 mains across, 8dn10 empty, 49/45 helix with stock springs.
I am sure I will have some tuning to do when I get a chance to ride it.
9100 target RPM.

mine would actually pull 8,900 out of the hole, up to about 9200 on a long pull, found that it pulled VERY hard and had excellent top speed. My clutching specs won't do you much good though for what i ran, I used a P-85 primary.

much better explaination.
Thats what I meant by 8900 to 9100.
8900 out of the whole and climb to 9100.
Hey Yamaholic I am waiting for you to answer question in the tech forum about gearing. Ski put a great spread sheet about gearing and max mph.
I aksed a few questions and thought you would chime in.

So the pipes cost you around 7-8 hundred how much did the clutch and jets cost????

I got the pipes used for $235.00 US, jetting was $12.00 and clutching all depends on what you want out of the sled.
there are a few weights that I hear work 89L, 8dn10, 8dn20.
Different helix as well 51/43, stock.
My clutching cost me about $100.00.
You can use stock weights as per Aaen and just remove weight from it by changing rivets.
Many combos will work but some work better then others, some have better bottom end and some better top end.
Wahtever you are looking for there are a few guys here that will guide you in the right direction. I am still learing the clutching and gearing thing.

That is a hard question to answer. In my area i cant think of too many shops that have someone that understands mods. They are good to repair stock sleds but not to set clutching for pipes.
I think you would be best getting a set up from some one here and you can have the shop install the parts if you dont think you can. Weights, rivets, springs and helix are all really simple to change.

I set up a 01 sxr700 with these pipes. jets-147.5 center and mag 150 for the pto, this is really safe jetting for VT. The sled has been ridden hard in temps of -10f with no problems. Clutching we are running a 8dn-10 empty with a 50/44 stock springs, 60 degrees on the secondary. The clutch setup is from Turk (the original) and anyone who drives it agrees it couldn't be much better for trail performance. Keep an eye on the weld seams, our set have split twice. I think the power is kind of peaky, most agree the power inc. pipes are the best if you can find a set. When the aaen pipes first came out, alot of guys were complaining that they were just a set of reworked indy 650 pipes. Either way, the sled I set up also has a 1.25 ripsaw with 144 hornets it's a very fun sled to drive and also much more deceptive with it's high windshield.
