carb heaters

Here is my personal experience with the heater knob. I was originally told to never turn the knob on with my SRX. One day I was tinkering and said, what the hell, what will it hurt, so I turned it on. Took it for a trip long day trip with friends. Noticed that it took several more pulls to get sled started after stops. (several more pulls being 5-10 compared to 1-3 with knob off. So after that I turned the heater off for the rest of the season. Rode in everything from -10 to 30 and never had a problem.
On another note for those of you who had your carbs freeze up after not turning them on, when you shut your sled down for say a half hour or so, come back to start it, if it's say 0 degrees, how will having the warmers on while you are in the restraunt compared to not having them on make a difference? Just wondering because in thirty minutes without the heaters being run because the sled is off, just seems that if it's going to freeze, whether previously hot or cold, it'll freeze within the 30 minutes you are gone. Can't seem to understand how the heaters are helping you when the sled is off?

CARIBFUTURE, When you have something warm it does take it alot longer to freeze than something that is cold. I do use my heaters with anything under 15*but I also have to pull my sled over alot when I'm done with lunch so maybe I will leave them off next time out and see what happens. I'm willing to give anything a try (well maybe not everything hee! hee!)
