took the sled into the shop to get the clutch re-built and they did a compression test, found 100lbs in one cylinder and 20lbs in the other. ripped the thing apart and my one jug/piston/rings is completely fvcked!!!
anyone know of any good online engine parts stores? i just spent $150 on getting the clutch fixed, i dont need to spend much more on a sled worth $900

I purchased everything for my 94 VMAX 600 from www.shadetreepowersports.com You can also try www.smartrecparts.com I only spent about 250-300 and purchased boyeson reeds also. I broke a piston ring after 3700 miles. The thing ran great then after trailering it to the UP my friend started my sled while i was away and I suspect I had vaporlock and he pulled really hard and broke the ring if that is possible. After trailering I always remove plugs and pull once or twice before starting.

I will HIGHLY suggest using the update oem piston as opposed to aftermarket if you want it to last thousands of miles and years to come.

That particular year of 600 twin liked to break the crankshaft between the clutch and case. The question isn't IF, the question is WHEN. I'd look for a '95 engine.

At what mileage, we run two 94,6's with 5,6k on them, no probs.

im pretty sure its around the 4k mark...my dad bought a '94 v-max 600 dx (two-up seat) back in the day when i was too young to ride my own sled. he put a single seat on there to go riding with the guys and he had over 10k on it before he sold it and had no problemsdaman said:At what mileage, we run two 94,6's with 5,6k on them, no probs.

Intercepter 700 has a complete 95 600 engine. I bumped it to the top of the classified list for you. I bought a suspension from him, he is a good guy to deal with.

I've never heard that about the cranks. We had probably 5 or 6 between family and freinds and never any crank problems. Mine had 11 or 12k kms on it...weird.

All the 600's in our riding group failed the same way. 5 sleds. 95's had an updated crank. All of ours were in the mountain version.

i just spent $150 on a clutch rebuild, and i should be able to do the jug/piston/rings/gaskets for $300, and shipping on an engine would kill me, but thanks anywayscaravanman said:Intercepter 700 has a complete 95 600 engine.
