as you know , Im trying to sell my 1990 banshee that nobody will ever buy even for 1200 bucks. Also looking for a sled badly, defintately an SRX> SO i go to the Polaris deal that i always go though. 1999 AC Sno pro Z 440 (440 fan) with that race package (thus being sno pro). Its in good shape, he wants 1400. I say.. what would u give me for the shee? He says low 2000's. WHAT! Hes giving me way more than i expected. I will, however, have to get a sled from him for the trade to go through, he wont buy it outright. But i would sure hope that with a 99 z440 sno pro + like 600 bucks i'd have a way better chance at getting an srx than just 1990 banshee. Plus with the 440 I could have a sled until i find what i want for sure. What do you guys think? thanks!
 
You will definetaly be able to sell a sled faster than a wheeler this time of year, especially if they are of the same value.
 
I'd try to sell your Banshee outright, 06 is last model year for Banshee. No reason you can't get some cash out of it, but you'll be kicking yourself later for getting rid of it.

I want a sled. Right now its the best route I think. I made up my mind. Thanks for your input you guys. Regardless, I will ride blue before the end of the season. BTW, lucky, max4, and rx1:(
 
I traded today, its in great shape, plus its ZR 440 sno pro. Had the low comp heads put on, timing advance thing, air shox, all of it. its sweet. He traded me my banshee for the zr 440 + 500 bucks
 
he is right, we DEMAND pics ;) sounds like a good deal. I just took the old groomer we have out for a ride today in the fresh foot of snow. it was more fun than it should have been.... 85 enticer 340 geared to pull a drag so it only does about 15mph lol! like I said, more fun than it should have been
 
heard those sleds can be a little picky, but when its on I bet its a great ride! a 440 with the power of the Venom

sounds like you did pretty good.
 
working on pics.. i tinkered with clutching today... mid-high its an animal.. downlow it has NOTHING. I dont know what to say I guess. I LOVE the chassis, etc. I'd love to drop a ZRT 800 engine in there or tcat, who knows...... then again i'd like to ride blue
 
only thing about dropping a bigger motor is you lose ALL the balance of that chassis. I have heard of people doing it and not being happy, wont handle nearly as well, little nose heavy :)
 
OMG ok. So today is my 16th birthday. I'm happy, the dealer got the sleds rear suspension fixed (broke trail riding last sunday). I get there, he says ok what year is your banshee? I said 90.. hes like WHAT? this summer when i was fixing it, I ran the vin and it was a 2000. I'm like no.. i'm POSITIVE its a 1990. Hes like well then, that screws up the trade in value. You owe me 250. I said screw that, i'll take my banshee back. You owe 83 in labor charges for putting those susp parts on. I said you know what, shove it, and began to walk out. Dealer says wait, i'll trade even up. Figuring this is my only option, i did so. He never got it clutched right, replaced the fuel turnoff thing, or the other things he promised. So as im leaving, (after signing over the shee, and getting and title to the sled) he says oh, well it might overrevving like that cuz it oculd be ported a bit. I was so pissed. I went home and told my dad, and he went up there and freaked out on the polaris dealer, showing him the receipt from the summer showing 1990 banshee, as well as the initial one from this summer i did. Basically my dad said 'you feel like a hero ripping off a 16 yr old kid, u knew what kinda situation he was in'! After telling this story to some other adults around, they told me he's done similar things with them (put them in a position they almost have to buy or be sledless all winter). So you know what, screw Northern Sports and Machine.
 
Follow up note as well.. THe Zr is running weird. I dont know what to run for timing, it says it needs 92 octane, I run 91 in it though. The timing goes from -3 to +3, whats it need to be on? theres also a knob that says timing select hot/cold. what is that supposed to be on? the clutch doesn't engage until 6k(has NO bottom end) but from 7-8.8k its a fricken rocket. I need it to run in that powerband all the time! I dont know how tho. Chassis wise, its pretty decent. Right now I am looking at 99 srx 600 that needs a cylinder replacing (its on ebay, isnt far from me) Other good news, the 99zr has low milage (according to odo anyhow). This fricken sucks. I cant go back to him and say I want the shee back, cuz right now i cant even get 1000 for it. and then what? buy some crappy old polaris trail sled? I'm so stuck between a rock and hardplace. I just want a sled... and the zr isn't 2 bad (i used to own a 98 zr 500 as well). Well thanks for listening to my rambling.
 
sounds like you found the catch. I would say put a little work in the zr and ride it. go to arcticchat.com and ask them how to set her up right, and go from there. if you buy another sled that needs work you are digging a deeper hole :( ever get any pics? sorry to hear things went bad, but at least they cant get worse lol! I don't know what tell you on the +3 -3 on timing but the one that says hot and cold when you first start it put on cold then turn it to hot when you get the pipe hot

I am going backa nd getting my shee back one way or another on monday. It broke down today riding. First, the fuel shutoff valve broke and i had to tape it on the on position. Now its only getting spark half the time and dying. On top of that, I found out its been ported to hell and back, and no matter what timing I run on it the ping is there. Sounds like its gonna blow soon. Theres a dude thats interesated in trading his freshly rebuilt 95 thundercat for a smaller 440 (has arm problems, cant pull it over anymore) I'm considering trading for that. OR... theres a kid around here that will trade my shee even up for 96 ZRT 600. It has a few issues, but is overall more solid and faster (i love triples). Also, theres a guy that said he'd give me 1100 straight up for the shee. That doesn't leave me much to get a sled..... cuz I owe my dad 500 (i was gonna give my dad that extra money the dealer was gonna give me on the trade)
I dont really feel right trading the dude with tcat, cuz I dont wanna have him have troubles witht he POS as well. I'm probably just gonna drive it back, tell him I want my 83 bucks i paid for registration back (he hasnt got it yet) and grab the key to my shee, and take it home
he calls the cops, i'll explain. I can't believe this guy did it. My moms friend said he did the same thing to him, said the sled had new pistons and jugs and it didnt......... only had 60lbs compression on each cyl. He's as @ss. !

I think avoid trading with people at all cost, they will get as pissed as you are and it just wont go well. get the cash back and put it towards something else. it is well worth the wait :)
