v-max throttle cable

can someone explain to me why my 98 v-max has 2 throttle cables ? my top one snapped and i fixed it now by bottom one is gone all slack on me but if i adjust it she wont go to the handle
anyone know whats goin on ?

That's your oil pump cable. It works with your throttle position to provide sufficient oil at different rpm's. E.g. When you are at full throttle, you require more oil to lubricate, when you are at wide open throttle, your oil pump is pumping more oil than when you are at 1/2 throttle. Make sense?
 
Actually, it is a VERY light pull. With the throttle cable disconnected, it is very easy to call it slack. As long as you are getting a blue smoke coming from the exhaust when cold, it is fine and operational.
 
to make sure you have the right adjustment, pull the cable apart just above the carburators...
