I have a 97 VMAX XTC. I never had any squealing problems before, I just recently changed the track from a 1" to a 1.5" and I also changed the belt.
When I first start the machine there is no squeal, but after I have been riding for awhile when it comes back to an idle there is a squeal.
What can I do to fix this squeal? Is it just the new belt?
Thanks for the advice.

new belt sqeal. get an adjustable secondary belt deflector from maxx perf (richie rich sells them). or you can add or subtract shims on rear of secondary till squeal goes away. or listen to the squeal till it stops. it will after the belt wears in and or stretches. ski

Mine does the same thing (same sled too). New belt... has maybe 300 miles on it and still squeels at idle. Sled drifts forward at idle with this belt also... put the older belt back on (has maybe 1200 miles on it) and both issues go away.
How many miles is a typical belt good for anyway??

ive gone any where from 30 to 2000 mostly depends on ur alinment and what kind of belt. yamis last the longest but ive gotten better perfomance with ultimaxx 3 but it went quicker.

I had the same problem last year with my 2000 Vmax & just like SkiDooBoy said I took out a few shims & now no more squeal. It is a pain in the *** to hear that high pitch squeal when idling & your buddies will love to bust your balls about it
