First Sled
1987 Yamaha SRV 540
Bullet Proof! had 16,000 miles on it... Still running today. sold it to my cousin...
It's ironic, but the biggest piece of JUNK I ever owned is my current 2000 SRX 700. I hope after I get it back from the Yam-shop I can change my opinion, but unitl then - It's a POS!

I had a piston ring break and dance on top of my piston awhile. But she was still running. Drove it onto the trailer. Still not sure while it broke. It ran fine until I trailered it to the UP. My friend started it for me while I was gone. After trailering then it ran like shit. It was brutal cold that day. I suspect i had vaporlock and friend was really pulling on pull cord. After I trailer my sled I normally pull plugs and give it a pull or two. Then reinstall plugs and fire it up. Friends did not do that.

1970 OMC SnoCrusier Model 200, 309 cc Kohler single banger, twin headlight. The piston was so big I couldn't start it until I was at least 16 years old. It would rip your sholder out. Fouled spark plugs like there was no tomorrow (had to carry 1/2 a dozen just so you could get hope). Needless to say, I walked home a lot!!!
It would do 55 mph wound right up, butt (pun intended) you didn't want to hit a bump (ouch).
Kissed the sled goodbye in or around 1995. Picked up a 87 Exciter in 1998 and entered the "New Era" of snowmobiling. Put 4500 Km on the Exciter (11,500Km in total) anbd sold ity just this fall. Now I'm cruising on a 2001 SXR600.
Don't miss the Crusier at all!!!

First that I paid for myself 1973(?) Polaris colt 250 but, the engine did not stick out of hood like Familyman's ! My fondest memory was high marking the bigger sleds on a hill in Coudersport Pa. since, it had a cleated track and didn't have the power to spin it would just keep climbing until it couldn't push any more snow! ! !

Ss 440
My first were 82 SS 440's. Were bought 2 used in 87 and still have them today for when we have visitors that don't have their own sleds.
They still run great and look good, but the ride quality is only as good as the trail.

Mine was a 1979 Exciter 440 still have it and still runs good! Ran 76 mph on gps last year. That sled is going downhill though hit some jumps and cracked the tunnel in the rear, rolled it once and windshield isnt on very good anymore. That sled is a blast in some snow like 2 ft of powder woohoo!
Caravanman...mine must have been a little order then I remember. Cleated track tho...that thing would outclimb most sleds.

My first sled is my current one, a 96 Vmax 600Xt. Bought it 1 year ago for 1300.00 and havent done anything to it really, but with the help of you guys I hope to make it nice and fast!
