I bought a 2000 SRX 700 from a buddy. He bought it 4 years ago, it was wrecked. Someone had is and hit a stump, it broke off the left ski assmbly and belly pan, cracked the hood, etc... He replaced all the parts like new. It had 192 miles when he got it. He is a Yamaha guy, so he knows what he is doing...
Anyway, I bought it from him in the summer. It has 450 miles on it now. He rode it very little since he's owned it.
Anyway, I brought it home and since I've owned it, I can not get the third cylinder to fire!? I have had varying opinions, but the consensus is that that cylinder is getting too much fuel...
Anyway, my buddy said he'd come over and look into it, but I'm having it taken to a dealer tomorrow. They can go through everything and, adjust/clean the carbs and jets.
Anyway, I'd like your opinion on this problem. Am I being overly concerned about this problem/sled or does this sound like something that is easily remedied?
I don't like to do a lot of wrenching, that is why I wanted that Yamaha anyway, but now I'm feeling a little nervous. I just want the damn thing to run right so I can peel some miles off this winter..
What do you guy's think? Should I be concerned?

im guessing you checked plug for spark,
its possible that it might be a coil, plug wire, pluged gas line.
your best bet is to get a macanic at yamaha to look at it if you dont want to fool with it.

so its only running on 2 cylinders
is it posible that it might be water in the gas
minw does that a bit here lately and all i use is a bit of gas line atifreeze
if its not that, i would have to be there to see whats going on
but ur best bet is a yamaha mec.

pluged pilots. Clean the carbs.

Agreed. Carbs are the problem 95% of the time, esp. if you've got spark and the thing's running on 2 instead of 3. I drain my carbs each fall AND put fuel stabilizer in all my sleds and I still have the dealer clean them, just to be safe....never ever had a problem with carbs.
