I am getting ready to trail clutch my 94 VMAX 600 ST with a couple minor mods such as boyeson reeds, single GYT pipe from a 96 XT and carbs from a 96 XT. I know nothing about the clutch. Kinda kickin around setups. I have stock 136" track with Venture skid and 108 studs and weigh around 225 with all my gear on. I do occasionly throw the 2 up seat on.
Primary spring O-P-O
8 CA weights with 3.1 gram Inner and 2.7 gram outer or
8 AB weight with and 2.4 grams innner and outer
51/43 helix
Silver or Green spring at 70 degrees
89 L belt
22 Top gear
40 Bottom gear
Stock gearing is 20/39
Does this sound like it may work or what would you do different?

8AB's 51/43 helix and green secondary at 70 your right in the ball park!!! your going the wrong way on the gearing. if anything, leave it alone or go with a 20/40 if 20/39 is stock v-max twins in that time period didnt have the HP so going to a taller gear ratio would hurt you

What is stock HP on the 94 600 twin. I am estimating 110-115 HP with the mods.
my 94 vmax 500 had 85HP stock so on a 600 110-115 is a little bit optimistic even with mods

The 96 GYT pipe which is much larger than the 94 with the larger 38mm 96 carbs added a few ponies along with the boyesson reeds. It had 36mm carbs.
it is possible to get 115 out of your 600 but you would have to put twin pipes on it and send your cylinders and head out to mrviper700 for portwork. he charges $120 a cylinder so $240 for head mod and port work along with $400 for pipes and you should be around 120HP on pump gas. reeds and going 2mm larger on the carbs dont help all that much. if your going to do that, than you should do everything. with all that done, your 600 will sing!!!

Gonna stick with the single pipe. Pretty much trail ride only. It's my understanding that twin pipes or more for top-end.

yep thats a fact, a single pipe will have more low end torque out of the hole than twin or tripple pipes. but if you clutch it and adjust the carbs you can overcome that. clutch that thing and let us know how it runs![]()
take care for now, tom

Haven't rode it since the pipe, carbs and 2000 Venture skid was installed. Gonna try between christmas and new year. If all is good with that stuff I will tackle the clutch before my trip to Au Train on Jan 12-16
