Heres my issue. Last year my 2000 700SXR started goin through oil at a rate of 3.2 quarts to 220 miles of trail riding. The SRX I was riding with would use a quart on the same ride. Never fouled plugs and ran fine. This summer I had the dealer put in a new oil pump and cable. Well, I just went for my first ride and it used a quart and half in 104 miles. Still seems like a lot. I checked the cable and they had it set at 30mm. The spec is 22 +/- 1. I readjusted it to 24. I then called the dealer to see what was up. They said the wider the measurment, the more lean it gets. They also said leave it at 24 because thats what Yamaha says to do. What is the problem? Is it going to burn even more oil now that I have decreased the measurment? Am I just being crazy in worrying about it? The sled runs perfect and never fouls plugs. Why would it burn so much oil? Sled has 5600 miles.
And I want to make sure, the wider the measurment, the leaner it gets right?...I do not want to burn up the motor.
Sorry so long but I wanted all the details in there.
