ripsaw 1.25 121" mods for an srx help

Greetings, have read many threads here discussing rips saws on an srx.
i was convinced that I had to go to 8 tooth drivers with a gear ratio of 25 top and 37 btm. I was planning on woodys studs 1.325. apon closer analysis and lots of measuring I think that I might be wrong. I have removed my front heat ex protectors, and was running a 1 inch track with 1.25 fast trac studs. I have 5000 kms on them with no problems. The rip saw is only 1/4 inch longer ( and with the studs, I have 1/2 inch of clearance) using my stock 9 tooth drivers. this is the same tunnel as my mountain max 700 and I had a 1.5 inch padel with no problems. So what is the big fuss about 8 tooth?
Unless im half blind i cant see why it wont fit and will easily clear the heat ex even with studs. has anyone tired this setup of stock 9 thooth with rip saw and 1325 woodys? I UNDERSTAND TRACK FLEX AND AM PREPARED TO KEEP TRACK TIGHT. an ideas wheather fully clipped is better than every 3rd closed and why?
any other mods or recomondations (pics would be great)
i would have sent pics but my digital camera got wet on my last venture with my grizzly 660.

You want a fully clipped if you are planning on running extrovert drivers. As for the 9 tooth drivers, it has been done, but i would NOT recommend doing it without running protectors, that seems ridiculous. Throw the protectors back in there and do it. If the track rubs the protectors a little bit, let it, it will wear in. If it really bothers you clip the track down in the area where it rubs. Maddogsrx says they have several sleds in the group with 1.25" tracks studded with 9 tooth drivers, but i would be willing to bet they all run protectors. NOT FUN when you tear up that exchanger. ;)!

If you do it, PUT THOSE PROTECTORS BACK ON! Sure, you MAY be ok, but, is it really worth the risk?

I have had the protectors att the front off for 3 years with no problems
see what happens

yes but have you had it studded for those 3 years?
 
Rob, I service my own sled, from pistons, rings to suspension bearings, carb cleaning.
If I want to have it checked by a pro I take it to Guy at Sudbury Cycle.
If you have no protectors and studs better run the track tight not to get any slap.
