I see a few times on here where someone has replaced their stock primary with one from a Polaris and I guess I'm just curios as to what makes the other better than the Yamaha clutch.I was under the impression that Yamaha made one of the better cvt units out there.Just wondering.

I think its mainly for people with a boat-load of polaris weights laying around.

I also believe that yamaha clutches last longer is because the engines are smoother.

Polaris clutches are a little more efficient in the upper end of the shift curve than the others out there. They are also less fussy when it comes to changes. A small change won't make as big of a difference in general. Yamaha clutches are the most efficient in general though through the entire shift, which can be seen in the fact that you can usually run less weight in the yamaha with the same results as others with more weight. Yamaha's also definately do last longer before requiring maintenance, especially on the triples.
