1998 SRX 700 Hard on Plugs

spark plug caps

I´ve read in the exellent magazine snow tech that some people had problems with the spark plug caps, and that makes the sled hard to start and foul plugs.

My did the same thing the 1st ride I had it. I would recommend closing the fuel screws 1/8th turn from stock and setting the float level to the leanest setting which I think is 1.5 mm from factory. Make sure the carbs are synched. You can go 1.5 Yamaha sized jets down on the mains from stock with factory muffler and airbox (makes the most power). Clutch it with 89a-10 weights with a 3.6 inner and outer with a b/w/b primary with 2-3 shims. Use a 45 degree cam with a green spring wrapped at 60-70. This should engage around 3600-3700 and should hit 8200 and creep to 8300. In trail form this will run 116-117 mph all day on radar and excellerate hard enough to embarrass most of todays sleds!!!!
