after 2 seasons of messing with these pipes i'm going back to stock.i've tried different pilot and needle combos but could never get a mid range hessitation out it would bog from 4 to 5000 then take off like crazy.got me about 15 mph on the top end but not worth the screwing around to me.they sound great and i get lots of complements on the sound but i'm sick of em.they've been repaired around the manifold flanges and one of the seal rings is cracked but if anybody is interested i'll sell em for 150 usd plus shipping, they include exhaust flanges, pipes and can i'll also include the pilots and mains that i have for it.they fit 96 500 and 600's as far as i know they may also fit other years but i'm not sure on exact years.my parts are comming in tuesday so they'll be off after that.

i don't know what brand they are i bought them off e-bay 2 years ago.forgot to mention they're off a vmax.i'll take a pic tomarrow and try to post it.i'm not that savy on the computer so it'll be hit or miss.

no acually i hadn't even considered that as a possible cause.thought that was only nessary for higher commpression not pipes.i already ordered all the parts to return it to stock.i just want to ride, not tune which seems like all i've been doing for too long.

i talked to my yamaha dealer about 6 years ago. he told me that putting twin pipes on the v-max twins is a waste. reliabilty goes right down the drain. I bought a set of DG performance pipes for my 94 500 and they are just a louzy company that doesnt know what they are talking about. needless to say i sold the pipes for $100 and put everything back to stock. i suppose i could have made it work ok but they are too finicky to tune at temperature changes.

[Well the reason I ask I bought a 97 yamaha tech update book on ebay and there is 2 pages on how to set your sled up for twin pipes and 92 octane was to be used! and several other things!QUOTE=joejoeguns]no acually i hadn't even considered that as a possible cause.thought that was only nessary for higher commpression not pipes.i already ordered all the parts to return it to stock.i just want to ride, not tune which seems like all i've been doing for too long.[/QUOTE]
