Modular helmet question

I just picked up a modular helmet. I was wondering if there is a way to use a traditional style breath deflector instead of that fighter pilot setup, when I close the shield it really compresses my face.

If you're talking about the Bombardier modular, my son found the same thing and got quite a bit more comfort out of the mask by removing the hard plastic insert that sits in the middle of the mask in the front.
