We just got back from Munising Michigan and the trails are in pretty good shape. We put on almost 300 miles in a little over 2 days! Anyways I ride a srx 700 with an m-10 suspension. I love the deep powder but the damn sled gets stuck all the time. What is the best sled for deep powder riding?

not an srx with a 121" m10 lol. Extend that baby and she will be much better in the deep stuff.

I am amazed on how well the viper mt sled does in powder. I look at my tracks and my ski's touch about every 20-30'.

Can I, and if so, where do i get an extension kit for the srx?

You can get an extension kit from Fast, the mfgr of the M-10. I did a little research into this a couple of years ago and you can go to 136" by just buying new rails and dismanteling the 121" and using it's parts.

If I remember correctly it was about $500 for the rails.

yup as he said, FAST has a kit to extend it. Not sure if they have extensions for the 121" or only new 136 rails, give them a call.

Be very carefull when looking at 136 extensions for a M-10. The last time I extended a 121" M-10 it took a lot of time to mod the extensions and the rails to make them fit correctly. Rails may be your best option. BTW ditch the .92 track if you stay 121" and want to go off trail. You can run a 1.25 or 1.5 without studs.

and remember just because it is longer it doesnt mean you will get stuck less. it means you will have a slightly better offtrail performer under you.

if you get stuck all the time with a shorty, having a longer track will make you try stuff you normally wouldnt and make you stuck more and deeper. then you will have the offtrail bug like the reat of us, and dream of dooing the ultimate offtrail GOING OUT WEST.

riding the deeper snow isnt something you can teach, it is a feeling you must learn. carving, sidehilling, and climbing all take alot of skill and patience. some people are capable on anything with a track, some people have capable sleds. all will end up stuck, some more than others :) all will end up with a big grin and the BUG. ski
