Well here I am again trying to figure it out this serious issue. I studed my track last fall with the right studs I tought but when I'm riding they are hitting on the front radiator ( not all the time ) just when I brake or when I git the gas real hard or even on deep snoe when I'm turning.....
So when I put the studs I check the lenght and they where fine like far from touching the radiator...but now I have some marks and I don't want to keep going without cheeking it out. My friend keeps telling is normal that they hit a little bit....but I don't know.
...and the track seems to be pretty good not to loose not to tight....help guys I really apreciatte your help...
Nick

dont let it hit anymore. If you get a leak those front exchangers are a big job to replace. Without knowing the track lug or stud legth its hard to tell you what is happening. I would run the track a little tighter since you say it happens when you brake.
track is .97 and i think studs are 1.102 or something like that....with this track wich studs are the right ones or you guys don't think the problem is something else......

Wich ones you think are the right studs...track is stock yokohama
I'm checking and track might me loose when do you know the right position for the track I mean loose or tight.......
ANY KIND OF PROTECTOR I CAN PUT IN THERE (FRONT RADIATOR) THANKS AGAIN GUYS

If it is rubbing, you could easily go thru it. Usually after a good season on riding with new studs the track looses. So if its rubbing now..by the end of a 1000+ mile season you might have worked all the way thru it....just my experience.
If you do go thru it, dont sweet. Cheapest and easiest way to fix, is Weld it.
Most shops have aluminum welders, so if you dont have one. Tear out the track and drive shaft, take it in and have it welded. This is alot less work then to remove that front cooler.
Easier to fix this now then on the trail.

Put front heat exchanger protectors on it!!! I can't believe nobody else said that. They are about 1" tall rectangular tube aluminum, and rivet to the rop of the tunnel and on the bottom of the exchanger. If you don't have these in, DEFINATELY GET THEM IN THERE.

Does everyone need to have heat exchanger protector. Like say with a 1inch track with 1.075 studs up th e middle?

In a word, YES!

Have you tested the track tension? If so,, I would inspect every stud to make sure it didn't rip a "flap" in the track. I had that happen and every time the track went around the stud would tear into the tunnel while hanging on to the piece of track for dear life.
Thanks for all the help guys......The track was too loose and i hit the coolers a little bit, but they are fine.....I will try the heat exchangers protectors anyways just to be safe......
Now just to learn, whats that welding the cooler ( i don't get it ) Anyways thanks guys love the site....
And tomorrow at St boni motorsports here in minnesota where are test driving the new 2006 yamis I will keep and update on that.....

if you rip a hole in the heat exchanger or "cooler", you can usually get them aluminum welded for much cheaper and easier than installing a new exchanger, that is what he was referring to.
