Viper single pipe questions

My, friend has an 03 SX Viper with an MBRP Race can and the stock pipe. He's wondering why its so quite. The can has about a 100 miles on it. We did take the can off and noticed there is some sort of baffle in the pipe itself. He was wondering if he ran the Bender 4X4 with the MBRP would it be louder than the stock pipe with the MBRP? He said that hes not concerned really to much about performance gain but wants it to be louder and keep that nice tone with the MBRP and stock pipe and have more weight loss. Do MBRP cans get much louder with use? I understand that some of the packing will blow out but will it be much louder than it is now? Also does anybody know if Bender can do C.O.D.?? Thanks alot
 
i have a bender can on my viper, and it sounds very nice. has a deep growl to it. i have never been bothered by the law on the way it sounds either. why does he want it louder? the MBRP will get louder in time. a guy i used to ride with has one on his REV 800, and it is just obnoxiously loud now. something about them over time i guess.
 
He races motocross and I think he just likes his 2 strokes to braap and be heard. I'm actually suprised because my stock 01 SXR is almost as loud as his with the can. We looked in my pipe and it doesn't have a baffle in it either so we're thinking thats why its still pretty quite. But it has a really cool tone to it.

Yes it should get louder with the Bender pipe. The stock Viper pipe is what's doing the quieting effect.(baffles) There is three hollow chambers inside the stock Viper can so the exhaust waves just bounce around for flow back up the pipe. It's obvious with the stock can apart that is not doing the bulk of the queting on the Viper. All I know is a Viper aftermarket can (three that I know of) lose performance by quite a bit.
 
Well, he should be happy to hear this. Do you know how much louder it'll get and will it sound deeper? He knows about the loss of performance but it he didnt really care. Do you think the sled will need to be rejetted by running a bender 4X4 with an MBRP Race can? Thanks for your help
 
i have a bender 4x4 pipe and a bender canister. no rejetting needed, just put it in and go. and yes with the pipe it will be louder. i ran mine with the stock pipe and bender can then the bender pipe and bender can. its friggin loud now.
 
that MBRP can will also get louder with time, as the packing starts to burn out of it. They are actually pretty quiet brand new, but get a lot louder with time. That bender pipe will definately make it louder as well.
 
Alright cool, he told me hes got one on order and should have it by thursday. So I'll post up a little review of what I think of it and what exactly it did do. Hey, TimeBomb, did the pipe change the tone of the sled? I would agree on that the packing burns out over time. So do you think this set-up will bring unwanted attention with it?
 
if you're riding in wisconsin with an obviously louder exhaust, you will get caught eventually...they are mean... :die:
 
yep, central Wisconsin. I just want to see how loud this sled is really gonna be after this.
 
This pipe really made the sled louder. It sounds deeper and more raspy and its still fairly quite at idle but as soon as you crack on it. Its gets pretty loud and it can be heard over other sleds driving. As far as performance goes. It maybe gained a little mid but thats about it. But by running this pipe and an MBRP race can the sled weighs 17lbs less. Thanks for the help.
 
Did he try running it into the stock can. Really there isn't much inside the stock silencer but three chambers. The original pipe does the bulk of the quieting. I heard that running the Bender into the stock can picks up a bit of performance, but into any aftermarket can and it's a no go.
 
No we didn't try the stock silencer but even if he wanted to he couldn't because of this damn freezing rain. Is there any clutching that would help out this combo? But man does it bark now. I would highly recommend it if you dont want to triple pipe it. It sounds so awesome that it wouldn't matter if it gained anything. Does the multiangle helix help out or is it a waste? Also how do think an 03 SX Viper with the pipe and race can would do against a xc 700 edge? It would be on a lake and I'm not sure how many feet, but I know this guy has 165 studs and it has a can, other than that its stock. The Viper is not studded but I think it'll take it up top if the snow is nice and packed down.
 
With the can on , I think it might lose. Without the can it should win if you have a strong runner with a good setup. I have never had a problem with any of the XC's. I run the stock exhaust, 1.25" track, TPI air box valves and Heavy Hitters in the clutch. I really like those for dialing in the R's. I'm pulling over 63 grams on the weights right now. I run the stock helix with a silver spring at 60deg. twist. I have not found a multi helix that works good with the Yammie wts. They definitely don't work well with the HH's other than drag racing. I do have an extra Viper head I may have modded. That is where you could make decent gains. I would'nt mind finding a factory pipe to play with by cutting it open and removing some baffles. I see Bender has the RA suspension available for $995. Now that would be a huge improvement in ride, holeshot and you save like 15-20lbs. If I keep the Viper ,I may look into this one. ;)!
