I know you can do the mod where you add the plastic piece to the ski rubbers. I know that you could also use a different rubber that was already thicker I did this on my 97 700 sx with 2002 plastic srx skis now I need to do it again to my fathers sled with the same set up but i can not remember what year or style sled the other rubbers were from if any one knows it would be helpfull thank you :yrules:

Just use the stoppers (rubbers) from a later model SX. I think I used 2000 or 2001.
If you check Ronnies online and look at the microfish you can compair part numbers and see when they changed.

I think they are from the 2002 srx part number 8CS-23743-00-00. The old ones are part number 8CR-23743-10-00. I wont know for sure till I get them from ronnies

Yea let me know Nov when you get em and put them in O.K??

Thanks Man!!!

I've read that article several times in the past... but pictures sure would speak a thousand words!! Some in-process pics would be awsome.

Yea no kidding!!!!!!

OK, I got a very helpful PM today. As I was told, take the ski off... find the rubber "bumper" under the spindle and attach a 1/4" piece of shim (pick your shim material, this person used an old drive belt piece) to the BACK edge of the rubber bumper, then reassemble. Seems easy.

I went through this a couple of years ago with my sled. :o| About all that happened was the back side of the rubber got smashed from the increased pressure. Finally got some Dually carbides. End of story! Can ride one handed all day. Absolutley will not dart. My wifes sled has them this year. Can't wait to see her expression. If you go with these go one size longer on the carbide length than you would normally go to maintain cornering bite. ;)! Also, as physics would have it, twice the carbide, lasts longer too!

The other reason i want to do this is because the back side of the
wear bars are not wearing, everything is wearing out in the front
I want to level the skis so they wear even.

Damn you are correct, the block that they put on that ski didnt work very well. The steel ski's from 97-98 had poor ski design, not only this problem but,the fact that the ski skin has a flat keel.As for the ski stopper a 98 block off a srx is will work, also the mountain ski block i don't know the numbers but they have a (S) on the face of the block.thease will level off a steel ski.Take and lift juat the front of your sled and take picture, what you will see is the ski tips will tilt forward, thus the reason for wearing the front half of skag.

Cool... so you are saying if i get a rubber ski block from a 98 srx or srx mountain it will level my skis off ???????

Yup i know what ya mean by how the skis dip down in front when the sleds
lifted up in front. :o|

I have a new pair of '04 rx-1 skis i want to put on but i need to get this
figured out first so i don't wear out the front of thos skis.

Thanks red ;)! i'll have to buy a new pair of 98 srx blocks then and see
what happens.

I've had a few Yamahas that darted, and one call to Scott Bergstrom of Bergstrom skegs fixed all 3 machines for $15 each. Basically, Scott sells skeg savers and gives info on wedges that fit under the rubber and in 20 minutes, I was done. I can't say enough about how it works and what a nice guy Scott is. I even became a dealer of his products.

Take a look: http://www.bergstromskegs.com/
