Hey everyone

For the longest time, I have been looking around for as much info on these as I can, including how they work, installation and performance gains, and am familiar with them. Also did a search and didnt come up with the info I was looking for.

Just have narrowed my search down to either the transfer rods that Bender Racing sells or the ones MaxxPerf sells. I have noticed that many people run both types of these, but am wondering if there is any key differences between them and which ones do the job better, easier to install and most durable, basically which can all be summed up in the question: Which one is better in your opinion?.

Here are some links.

Bender Racing

Maxxperf

Thanks in advance for any help!

I have them both and honestly i dont think i could choose. They both work very well, both are super easy to adjust, both look nice. The benders are a little easier install because you don't have to remove the full rod from the upper crossover shaft (carrier wheels are a press fit, tough to remove to get the control rods off), but other than that i think its a horse a piece.

why wouldn't you have to remove the "full rod"?.... what's the difference physical/mechanically..

does the suspension need to come out in order to install either of these???

maxperf are better. if you long travel your suspension the benders will limit your travel.suspension doesn't have to come all the way out.drive crossshaft out with block of wood and hammer put back on with socket or pipe and a hammer.you put the whole transfer rod on.the directions that come with the maxperf one's tell you how to do the whole thing

I have the SPX from Royal Distributing on both my machines and I really like then. Very inexpensive and easy to adjust.

The royal distributing ones seem like a great deal $89.99 CDN = ~$77.00 USD... the bender ones sometimes go for that much USED on ebay.

i first had the bender , they iced up and once they ice up , they dont move all day until they thaw , then i bought a set of the max perf. from mt. performance and they never iced up and work perfect all the time , the benders take less time to install but the max per. will work better for you in the long run ...

I have the Benders and when they ice up one tap with a wrench and blamo they are free as a bird for me got a few miles on mine no trouble at all only sucky thing is like the other guy said if you get a long travel susp you will have to change them

Thanks everyone for the replies

I like the idea of the Benders being simpler to instal but not liking how they freeze up and are limited in some ways, such as to a longer travel suspension. What is meant by this anyways?, only thing I can think of is getting an aftermarket tunnel or something?? Or such as the 2001 SRX which has the 8" of travel in the rear and can be replaced with the standard 11.5" of travel found in the SXR, but mine already has the 11.5" of travel.

Iv always prefered the way the Maxperf ones looked and apparently, they are the better performing. As of right now, Im leaning towards getting the maxxperf ones, but that is before I find out what this whole long travel suspension business is all about.

Thanks again for the replies and help!

I have the Bender TS3's and I am taking them off my sled. It seems like a big joke. If I ride 10-15 miles and want to adjust them, there is a huge ice ball that completly surrounds them and a I would have to bring a hammer and chisel with me to adjust them. Also last year they somehow froze up internally. I cannot get any adjustment out of them though the adjuster spins freely. I have attempted to take them apart but it seems almost impossible to take them apart. If anybody has any solutions to this Im all ears.

this may help...although I still think they're a flawed design at best...
there's a allen headed set screw that has to be in place to cause the adjustment to occur...to shallow or missing(they fall out)...and it wont adjust...

not sure which rods SJ is referring to... so..

does anyone know why the rods from Royal Distributing list late model MM's with SRX's together?....

I might just buy a pair for my 02MM but I would have thought the ones for SRX's are different... (different suspensions.. long travel vs short)...???

an error in their catologue maybe?

thanks tj

The newer MM and srx's use the same control rods

Thanks everyone for all your help!

Iv decided to go with the MaxxPerf ones in blue.

For anyone who might want to do the same thing to their venture, the rods that fit the venture are the same ones that fit the SX chassis sleds, which is also the rod thta fits the majority of yamaha traiing arm sleds.

I have heard that the rods come with great instructions but the rods are difficult to install because something is pressed in something else and requires alot of effort on getting out, but I will try my best. Anyone have any tips for instalation?
