1996 VMAX 600 starts fine and idles, but if you touch the thortle it idles up to 3500 rpm and then if you wack the thortle it will idle back down to 1600 rpm. Things I have checked are I cleaned the carbs, looked over the reed petals and carb boots, all looks fine. I have taken carb cleaner and sprayed around crank seals. I have adjusted idle screw and I still have the same problem. To me it acts like it is sucking air from somewhere. I have talked to dealershipes and of course they tell me to bring it in. So basiclly I am looking for some suggesstions of what to check next.

Where are your fuel screws set?
Sounds like it need a little bit more fuel at idle.

While checking I noticed that both slides weren't closed the same amount and proceeded to take the top off the carb and found on the pto side there is some type of set screw that was loose, which conects to rod from the other carb. I think this might be the problem, but now I need to know where this has to be set.
