Get rid of Exciter 570 butterfly carbs?

Ask MrViper700. He has raced em' and I believe he's against going to a flatside setup for some reason. I could be wrong, he might have been talking about phazer carbs. I'll see if I can find the thread.

The 87 Exciter was the only year with the butterflys. They were not very forgiving when it came to temperature changes so, Yamaha went to the roundslides in 88.
 
And when they went to round slides in 88 they had all kinds of trouble with fuel foaming. If you have had no real issues with the butterflys, then leave them alone. Mine worked just fine and gave me no trouble.
 
i had an 87 with the butterflies on it ,worked good stock then i did the update porting / cut y pipe from yamaha and they worked great,I believe bender did a little mod to the pilot circut to improvr throttle response it was puplished in the c&h dyno subscrib thing back in the day.I may still have it ,i'll get back to you.....i wouldn't change them..
 
the butterflies were the best if you left it stock, the only problem was if you changed something, You couldn't tune the midrange on the without drilling holes out and you better new what you were doing. The 87' with the butterflies was the fastest EX stock for stock except the SX EX
