how come in the 97 v-max 600 yamaha went with 8AB weights but in the 700 they used 8CH weights? is there a reason for that and wouldnt the 8AB weights work better in the 700? thanks tom

The 97 vmax 600 was a twin and the 700 was a triple. The 600 triple didn't come out till 99 then it came stock with 8dg's for weights. The 8ch's work well with a bit more weight in them I hear. 8ab's are not very good top end weights. I ran them in my 600 and the top end suffered. Low to mid was awesome though.

yea i was wondering about the profile. the 8AB weights seem to be similar to the 8BU-00 weights

Funny.... my 97 600 twin VMax shows 8CR's for stock weights. But when I took out the worn ones they were actually 8DF's.... go figure.
