Installing SC 10 into SRX.How hard is it?

After removing the skid from my 98 SRX and inspecting the W-Arm,which I have to fix again,as well as the other things that are wore(bushings),I got to thinking about a post I saw here about someone installing an SC 10 or SC 10 2 into a proaction chassis.I'm not really sure if its worth the headaches to try this as all I'm really looking to get out of it is a better riding sled,and I know that the M 10 and Expert X are heads and tails above most any factory skid but I can buy a second hand SC 10 for a fraction of either of the above.My cousin has a 98 Mach 1 and he put an AD boivin kit on his and the ride is way better than stock and way better than mine and I have the Maxx long travel kit installed.
Would I be better off to get my rear shock revalved and replace the W Arm than screw around trying to make a different skid work?Thanks.
 
if you can use a tape measure accuratly and if you can get the measurements from your buddy its real easy. i would swap it out!
 
Care to elaborate a bit?I know how to use a tape pretty well but what should I use for measurements?The hole locations from his sled?I guess that would make sense but what about reinforcement brackets,would I have to find a Ski Doo chassis and remove the ones to go in the corresponding locations?My cousins trying to talk me into doing this as it would give him one more jab at me to change brands,not that this would make me do it.Thanks.

you need the measurements from the donor sled. here is an example below on what you need to measure. if the stock reinforcement brackets dont line up, then you can add new ones or move your stock ones, it doesnt matter as long as some sort of plate is there. the most important factor is accurate measurements. an 1/8" off can cause geometry issues.

Sorry to sound so stupid here but I take it from your diagram I should take the measurements from the drive shaft and top of the tunnel to the holes on the donor sled or the Mach of my cousins?I'm starting to consider this option more all the time and want to go into this project with as much info as I can gather up as our riding season is getting shorter all the time and my *** hasn't been on the snow yet!!Thanks again.

its not a stupid question, ask away! its better to ask a ton of questions and do it right than to drill a ton of holes that arent right. yes you need to measure where he has his. driveshaft to front holes and top of tunnel down.
 
Excellent.Thanks for everything so far.If I do follow through with this in the near future I will probably need some more advice so be prepared for a bombardment of emails.LOL
 
2 things
1 take the suspension out of your buddies sled slap in a piece of cardboard or ply wood, push it up against the axle and make a patern. you may have to adjust you measuments if the axles are different size

2 go look at the AD Boivin instructions, they give differnt tunnel widths. if its too far off, you;ll have to do something about it.
 
Look for an SC 10 2. It's a much better ride than an SC 10, and you won't have the problem created when you are coupling 2 shocks that were valved not to be coupled, which is what the ad-boivin kit is doing. This wouldn't be as much of an issue if you're a heavier person, or don't mind a fairly firm ride.
