Thunder, lightening, and it's raining cats and dogs!
Man if this was a snow storm we'd be digging out for a week. Damn weather.

YEah, I live in the SW burbs of Chicago and same story; we had hail, a light show, and thunder. Does anyone know the ratio of rain to snow; i.e. what does an inch of rain produce in terms of snowfall?

I think it's 1" rain = 1 foot snow
No its 1" rain equals 7"s of snow.

Here in Michigan because of the lake effect, it's 1" rain = 10" snow for most snowfalls. Because of the lake, our snow is often thincker and heavier than most areas of the country.

Yes we had the crud this morning. Our local weather said it would miss all but extreme southern Minnesota. WRONG again!! Then to top it off I go to work and had to work on an roof exhaust fan motor on our building in the pouring rain and I got drenched. That really made my day!! Jan. 2nd and pouring rain?? My thermometer has refused to go below 32deg. F. since Dec. 22nd.

I'm getting pretty sick of this weather too... 35+ degrees for the last 10 days and now it's pouring rain!! The extended forecast doesn't look all that promising either.

We had a thunderstorm over here near Detroit on Christmas morning, too. I was out in the barn and saw a flash, then a big booming thunder that rolled on and on. Happened a few times. Silly me, I thought this was Winter. You're right, if this was snow we'd all be dancing to our sleds!
