Hey does anybody know if I can put a SRX hood on an SX?
I want to replace mine, it's getting a little ratty. I like the extra vents in the SRX hood but don't know if she'll fit.
Thanks,
Greg

sx bellypan is way,way skinny, like your avatar, the srx hood is a little too large....lmao

I try not to look at that avatar, it gives me the willys......lol

bischoff,, you can always put an srx belly pan and side panels on it to make it fit, than your sled will match you

yea, this site wouldnt be complete without bischoff, LOL we appreciate ya man happy new years to ya, tom

I did just the opposite, I made my SRX look like an SX, you would need the hood, side panels, and I think the hinges, the SRX is wider and there is a small bracket which you could make that is attatched to the side of the footrests, other than that its an easy swap...........

Aw shucks Fellas I'm gettin all teary eyed.
Thanks for the kind words.
The SRX hood sounds like too much work for me, think I'll keep my ratty red one for now and I'll keep the hood too.
Thanks for the info

is that really you in the avatar??? I agree with you about the two much work though. far more than it is worth. should be able to get a cheap sx hood and just slap it on :)

Tom,
Thanks for thinking of me.
I'd seen that too. There was another red one that ended a couple of days ago, brand new in the box with no graphics but I'm still on the fence.
I've finished all the functional stuff, motor, pipes, clutching, front and rear suspension and now I plan to work on the cosmetics. The seat is ripped at the snaps and in the back corner so I'll be putting a new cover or seat on it and the hood like I said has seen better days. I'm either going to switch over to a blue hood and seat and bumpers or I'm kicking around sticking with a red hood (no hood graphics like I now have) and seat and using some blue components for accents like the trailing arms, skid plate and maybe the bumpers.
Here's my current look. Any ideas?

yea, actually i have a stock seat off of a 98 srx that is in descent condition, but it has some of the same symptoms as your snaps are having, just the front snaps are tearing a little and at the butt rest in the rear of the seat, it has the threads coming out and a little foam showing, but i will be in allenton michigan this spring and can give you the seat for free if you wanted to meet some place if you want to spend just a few bucks to get it re done and you could pick up an sxr hood or blue sx hood. i think it would look sweet. nice sled! dont worry i had an 02 136 srx a few years back that i drove around smashed it a few times and it looked like it met the ugly tree but still would eat alot of sleds for breakfast. i parted it out and picked up the 98 mtn srx and took the motor and all the nice 02 srx motor and parts and put in on the 98 mtn srx

yea ill be sure to get in touch with you before i head up that way this spring. ill bring the seat. ill be staying with my cousins for a few days in allenton, which cant be too far from you. than we are going up to cousins's cabin in port austin at the tip of the thumb and it be up to the UP to saint ignace after that.

I will be parting out a 98 SRX here soon, when I get a chance, I could make you a kit, theres nothing wrong with the sled, let me know.........

800,
All i would be interested in is the seat if it's in great shape. I've pretty much decided against the SRX hood idea.

I think it would look good either way. looks good now color wise. the blue would look nice, I have loved that blue since 98, but I LOVED my 97 600sx. the red looks good as well.
