We are tearing my secondary apart (well we are going to). It already off of the sled and i was wondering what i need to know to pull it apart, mainly when is the sucker going to realease the spring ect... Also what are the main parts the need to be inspected, ie any rollers or bushings, never did a seconday before. Sled=96 vmax 600 xt.

first you need a pair of snap ring plires then turn the sheaves counter clock wise about 3 inches then push down on the cam and take off the snap ring. then slowly let the cam rise off the shaft as the sheaves will turn back and beyond the pint were the cam rides on the buttons. stop there and mark the hole that the spring is in. remove the cam and when you pull out the spring it will also have a part of the spring in a hole under the spring mark it to. remove spring. change the buttons buy punching them out from the other side and put new ones back in. replace buy puting sheaves together put spring back in the hole you marked in the sheave then place the cam on the spring (same hole you marked on the cam) now the triky part place the cam on the splined shaft so the cam is just above the buttons then turn the sheaves conter clock wise against eachother until the cam can be pushed down past the snap ring groove,. while pushing down on the cam holed it down and attach the snap ring and let the cam up and you are done.

There is no snap ring on the 95 and newer secondary's.
The helix is a bolt on.
I take mine apart while it is still in the mach. Put the parking brake on and while holding the helix in loosen the three nuts and then slowly release the spring tension. Then you can remove the center bolt and take the inner half sheave off. The only wear items are the three buttons and two bushings.

Exactly right.

Cool thanks for the info the clutch is apart and as you said the parts that are wearable all need to be replaced, the buttons are "TOAST" according to my dad (he tore it apart for me last night) I never thought of using the brake with it still on the sled thats probably somewhat easier. I hope this takes care of the belt squeel i have if not i will post about that as soon as we get some snow for me to try it on, and of course as soon as my parts come. THanks again guys.
