"Why is it that some folks just want to make things difficult and shun such a simple and free fix as the lonesome shim?! "
My skis are shimmed. They may not dart to the same degree as they use to, but they'll still follow ruts left by the dual runners.

What shim did you use Ecopter? Can you post a pic of your wearbars on a flat floor?

Q1...those products look like alot of products that have fallen by the wayside over the year.
I would not bolt those metal things to my ski spindles...imagine coming through an icy gravely corner and have that edge catch something immovable!
I just don't see how throwing money at this problem helps. I bought new skis under the assumption they would cure darting! They did not! It's all about the ski runner pressure.

They were a little expensive but lasted for 2500 miles before i had to through them away.
I have done the shim trick and all the adj. and it did help...some, but i dont care how you adj. or shim , your still gonna have some darting on good trails. its the single runner, its unavoidable. Put a set of dual carbides on a single keel ski and your darting problems will be over ....case closed!

vmj,
I have bergstoms shim, ski savers and the proper balance.....about 40% front / 60 % rear (maybe a little more in the back). The sled doesn't handle bad, but it does follow dual runner skis.

I think it was stated above somewhere.... if your ski is narrower than the ski path you are running in... your ski will tend to follow it at least a bit. Laws of physics sort of... narrow channel... narrower ski... follow along whether you like it or not. And by this I don't mean your entire ski width... the dual runner skis (skidoo precisions) cast a bigger "ditch" than just about any single runner ski...
Does this make sense? It does to me... but I'm the one who typed it! LOL!!!

You're right on Waterfoul. It made sense too
Ecopter, I'm all curious now...what skis do you have? Like I said earlier, some skis are more 'nervous' feeling, rocker skis especially.
Are you coming to the Muni ride? Let's swap sleds and get a feel for the different set ups, eh?
Yammy...if that works for you, great. For the riding I do, I'd wear those dooly's out quickly, and be back at the parts counter tomorrow. The metal is just too soft to last through multiple seasons of so-so snow, like my Bergstroms do.

darting
Never point your skis in, ever. Adjust so they are equal or a touch out.
Dually carbide runners are the trick also, after you adjust the skis properly.
