How to identify sled year?.

Hi guys!.

I`m about to order some parts from Rich and I`m sure if the sled (V-Max 600SX) is a 97 or a 98. Seller said it was a 98 but then a friend told me that the 98`s wasn`t taken into Norway.

The vin is:
8CV005201

Are there any numbers or letters in the vin that can tell me this?.

I`ve been looking at the decals on the hood and from what I can see, the 97 decals seems to match the ones on the sled.

are the graphics white reflective, or black with white and yellow in it? white reflective is a 98, otherwise a 97 with the black w/yellow and white

I took a look at the microfiche of the 98 and 97, and from what I can see it seems to have the 97 decals.

I will look for that sticker daman ! .

The decals does not seem to be reflective.

If it helps,I looked up the vin to get the model for ya. I am 100% sure on it.

Yamaha puts out a snowmobile tech update book every year. I keep my 04 copy next to the computer, so I don't have to go looking to look it up.

As I remember it the tech update books can be ordered but they are expensive. Does anyone know if they are online anywhere?
