allright all you yamaha guru's. how do you fix the broken speedometer keyway that is broken inside the driveshaft,and the other half is in the gear drive. i know i have to replace the gear set-up that the speedo cable plugs into,but ad far as the remaining piece that is stuck in the driveshaft,it is in there at least a quarter inch. is there another little fitting that the keyway slides inside? any help would be appreciated. it's a yamaha sx 700 1997.

I used a drill bit smaller than the cable and twisted it with my fingers and finally got some strands to come out. Grabbed ahold of them with needle nose and out it came. I'll throw a few more coin in the collection plate next time...
my buddy had a fluke, i guess there is space obn the other side, he pounded it right threw,i seen lots that would not come out, my redneck buddys just take a new cable, cut it down and just tack it on there, it works, they are a bitch to get out
