Yesterday, we went to Ken's Yamaha in Minocqua, WI to see if they had two idler wheels for my cousin's apex. The sled has 300-400 miles on it, and they acted like they didn't want to work on it. They said they had never heard of the sleds throwing rubber from the wheels, and that it'd take 10 days before they could even get to it if they did have the wheels. Not to mention how long it'd take to fill out the warranty info....
They said that Yamaha didn't give them a bulletin, so they weren't going to do it as warranty, they said it was because the sled was studded.... Yeah right. Anyway, when we asked them if they ever went to TY and read about what's going on with all the Yami crowd, they said "Oh, you mean one of those chat rooms, or gossip rooms, I should say, we Yamaha doesn't listen to that stuff"
What a moron... I will never do business there if I have a choice. I'm glad I have a dealer back home that listens to me, and wants to help me. I'm pretty lucky I have to say, even though I'm over 600 miles from Minocqua.
Ride safe,
joel

thats sad.changing the wheels is a 5 min. job.i can understand them not wanting to cover it under warranty but not wanting to work on it.did you tell them your on a trip from out of town?
I have situations like that when Im in areas of "traffic". Meaning, lots of snowmobilers, mostly out off towners the local dealers get tired of .....I NEED I NEED I NEED. So when a guy like myself...that has manners comes in the door they already have attituded because im not a local.
I dont know if its all the dealers fault, I would mostly blame it on the hundreds before you that were jack
's to them.
Just my opinion.
On the second hand I have a local dealer that is that way all the time. Thats whey I dont go there.

No not a local eastern Iowa Yamaha dealer who stocks no parts and won't order your until they get a ful order for Yamaha, in 3 to 4 weeks. Must have the same dealer. LOL

Kens is not very good dealer...They have been trying to sell the dealership...hmm

I am headed to nothern maine next week and spoke to my dealer yesterday I do not have many miles on my RTX and this wheel issue has not happened to me yet. My dealer told me Yamaha knows about the issue and the problem is the 06 wheels are made with a softer rubber than the 05 wheels so the fix is to get 05 wheels but they are on back order. The next best thing is the spoke accessory wheels so he is ordering me a couple to take with me incase something happens while I am up there. All I need to do is bring the old wheels back to him after if it happens.

Culley's. I have been going there for the last 6 years. They are very nice people and are very informative. My uncle has bought 4 sleds in the last 4 years from them.
That ken's is poor service and dosen't know anything I been there before.

My Attak wheels shreaded after 300 miles. Made it to my dealer (Pat's in Greenland) as they were opening in the morning. None of the mechanics were there (no big deal), so Pat handed me the impact driver, wrench, and had me pick out the wheels I wanted (colored or black) and I had them changed in five minutes. He never flinched at the problem and in fact, stated they were running short on wheels because of all the problems. He was more than accomodating.
The dealer in Minocqua's on crack!

Glad to see some reports of good dealers, I don't understand why some dealers think they can get attituides with the limited snow we get, they should be happy just to have traffic! On a trip to Minocua last year we stopped at Ken's and got some carbides installed on a friends rx-1 and they did it on the spot and seemed ok, but it wasn't warranty either.

I myself don't understand Kens attitude, I don't know him personally but I was factory contact for one of his other product lines and we never had an issue with him as well as I know he's close to Yamaha R&D and has or had contacts there. Maybe like us all he's getting old.

Boy this is sad being Yamaha's R&D division is right there in town. Sounds more like a brand X dealer. Fortunately my small town dealer in St. Peter, MN has been excellent over the years. I hate it when a dealer acts like this. TY a chat room huh?? Sounds like this guy doesn't have a clue. Any good Yamaha dealer would be scouring this site daily for the loads of information that finds it's way here.

Jigg,
I have been to the grass drags a couple of times. Larry's son Keith is a pretty good racer. Where do you ride?

I ride out of Hartland ME (My fiancee's parents have a house on great moose lake).
We used to have some decent riding in central MA, out around the wachusett reservoir, but that's closed off now with absolutely zero chance of reopening (believe me, i've tried).

Guys, I Believe Kens Yamaha Was Sold And Under New Ownership-now They Call It Minoqua Yamaha. I Too Have Heard A Few Whore Stories About The Place, But Too Not Have Idler Wheels In Stock Is Pathetic Unless Yamaha Has A Supply Issue. Nonetheless It Sounds Like You Could Have Been Treated Better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
