Trail conditions are from mud, slush, snirt, rocks to perfect table tops smoothness. Granted, the closer you are to town, the more mud, ice, grass, mud trail conditions persist. Once you head north towards Boulder Junction, you should start seeing better trails. No need to trash a perfectly good sled on crappy trails. Just wait a week or so, so the groomers can get the base taken care of, and get the trails back in place.

Sat Dec 31 - 25 miles rough trails, mud, slush, rocks
Jan 1 - St. Germain area - bad around town, got engaged on the small island on Lake St. Germain, but trails were still muddy, icy, snirty, etc.

Monday, 200 miles - we rode from Minocqua to Lake of the Clouds. The trails from Presque Isle north were near perfect except two – three places where the groomer had broken through in the swamp areas on trail 1 north I think. All lakes have slush on them, so stay by the barrels. Silver City flat out sucked, as it was mud whoops for over 2 miles from the gas station. We rode back and stopped on Gogebic and stayed that night.

Tuesday - 150 miles or so coming home and zipping around trying different routes. A couple of groomer drivers in Menisco said that all they see is trailers heading north to the UP. Trails were good around there but extremely slushy. Very warm out.

Wednesday - 75 miles - We tried to get to Eagle River, but found out the trail was closed at 10 / 13. We just took our time and tried to find good trails to ride around on, but just headed back. The lakes were extremely slushy. We got one inch maybe yesterday/last night in Minocqua, but that’s it. Roads are not covered.

Thursday - we have about 1/4 inch of snow on the sleds from overnight and that's it. The roads outside are wet. Today is our last day of riding... I hope it's good, as this is our only trip this year. Be safe, ride right. I recommend that you wait til this weekend to come up and they get the base back in shape. There are a lot of people out there trashing what's left of the trails by punching the throttle from dead stops, trenching 4-5 inches down to the dirt leaving a pile of snow and rocks to become a mound for someone else to hit. Take care of the trails, no need to ride 100 mph in the woods if hte trails aren't in great shape. Take care of what you have. Sorry, don't mean to preach...

there was aboiut 1-2 inches north of Minocqua, and trails were actually pretty good. Since there's not much snow on the trails, the whoops only get about a foot tall wherever they are.

riding was good today and traffic was picking up. Many were all heading to the UP though via sled. Trails could really improve wiht 4 inches of snow and continous freezing temps.

Have fun,
joel
