Well one week before me and 4 of my buddys leave for grand maris and the ty ride for the entire week , I blew the ole viper up on sunday , And as they say DAHM they run good before they go down :) , wasnt a jetting thing it was a double dose of me being in a hurry and trying to work on my sled through the nights after the kids go to bed . just put on rings and had all the cylinders honed , took it to gaylord for a test run , thing ran like the viper of old if not better for about 50 miles , then my buddys rev started to over heat and we pulled off the power line to let it cool down for about 25 min. , of course i gave him a bunch of SH*T about his rev , i checked my plugs as we sat there and talked , they looked great by the way :) and we went to hit the trail again , i made it about 500 yards and then puff ....no power , opened up the hood and the motor was smoking hot and my mag side spark plug was not in the cylinder ,well i went to feel the cooling boards and they were fricken cold , so i cracked the rear bleeder screw on the rear heat exchanger and the things hissed air out for like 3 sec. then came the antifreeze , so i figure i didnt bleed the system well enough , so i pull it home and pull it apart to find i need a mag piston and cylinder , no big deal ...then i take a peak at crank ...ouch the thruster bearing was torn and the rod bearing needles were no were to be seen , so im figureing since i didnt put the plug back in all the way it came out i lost compression in that cylinder and not enough oil made it to that end of the crank ....ouch ....a double fubar ...$900 bucks for a fix ............but it tis the season and i have two stroke oil in my blood , it will be back and running in time for me to come up to muni on saturday night and show you girls how to drink ..... :die:

thanks 800 , but to make it in time for muni , i ordered everything from yamaha next day air for the crank , the cylinder is comeing from us chrome today and my good old buddy bushman had a piston for me , so ya i have everything except enough money , got any of that for me :)

Man that sucks, Hell I have a whole viper you can use if you want to come get it. God knows I don't have enough snow or time to ride it. LOL Maxdlx

Larryi f you don't finish it bring the parts up there and we will get it done.Cya up there.Ryan

Good lord, I think my body would go into convulsions if I popped mine. You make it sound like gapping a spark plug!

For B2SO a burndown is like gapping a plug, Billy I had to give you a hard time, and you have permission to call me gimp.

LOL....grape you know better , ya i am really sorry to hear you almost cut your thumb off , dahm that had to hurt , hopefully not your right thumb , and if it was throw a left handed throttle on that new mt. apex ...

Klinger , I did poop myself, and couldnt hold food down for two days!! but with the help from great friends that can pull motors in there sleep and helpfull info from the guys on this site it will be ok , just a hit to the pocket book and ego , it was my fault i didnt check the cooling boards and didnt get all the air out of the system and my fault i didnt get the plug snugged down , oh well stuff happens ...but without my buddys and this site i would be hurting for sure , to tell ya truth , I have learned everything i know about sleds from this site and a buddy of mine Jeff(skinny) , there are many many names of people from this site that have gone out of there way for me and tought me little things along the way , guys like skidooboy i met on this site and he only lives 10 min. from me , we have become good friends , i still owe the guy money for trailing arm , he says get it to him when i can ....in one night he hands me a rack for my sled a cdi box and a set of trailing arms and tells me to get the money to him when i can , grapeape just dropping off $50 bucks in parts and the same thing "ill get with ya later on the cash " , betheviper and his willingness to just talk sleds and cheap parts , and the list gos on and on ...i cant say THANK YOU enough to all of you for your help .

Happy Braaaping

p.s _ I didnt buy a new crank , i only needed two thruster washers , rod, rod bearing, everything else checked out with the crank guy , but with that stuff plus , wrist pin and bearing , thermostat , piston , cylinder , rings , thermostat , water pump gasket kit , new on/off knob for the heated carbs , yamabond and to pay the crank guy im at about $925.00

Sorry to hear that Larry, glad you'll be able to make Muni.
A buddy once asked "what did your motor sound like when it burned up?"
I said cha-ching

now thats funny...the sound of a wallet emptying out very fast.
I have to agree with b2so since I have met guys on here willing to go the extra mile to help.
There is a TY'er in my area that is willing to lend me his new clutch alignment tool and I have not even met him face to face yet.
This is just what TY is all about.
Good lick with the rebuild.
